Stop Lying to Yourself – Part I

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

What’s This All About? (140 characters or less)

Do us a favor, STOP LYING TO YOURSELF!

***

“I don’t have a choice; this is something I have to do.” “I can never do what they did, I’m not smart enough.” “If I just hang in there the situation will get better.” “The industry is already crowded; if I launch XYZ nobody will notice.”

Does any of this sound familiar? Have you ever thought or vocalized any of these statements or something similar?

We all have at one point or another thought, spoke, or believed these negative statements. They seem to creep in when we are faced with a decision – that we’ve convinced ourselves is life altering – or when we take a leap of faith.  This voice is paralyzing and prevents us from moving forward. It convinces us that we can stick it out just a little longer. It also has the potential to make us believe that right now is the best that we have and will ever do. This is the voice of fear and when given the proper power, it will shut you down.

Do us a favor, STOP LYING TO YOURSELF!

I’ll Never Grow Up: An Open Invitation to Never Never Land

What’s this about? (140 characters or less)

Peter Pan Generation? Yo! GenYus it’s time to unleash your super power & create your own version of the American Dream. Time to break free!

***

There’s been a lot of chatter lately about our generation. You know…the “Peter Pan Generation,” the one that will never grow up? This commentary is focused on the percentage of us who: move back home with our folks post education, find it difficult to achieve financial independence, change jobs on average seven times throughout our 20s, simply delay getting married and having children, or the biggie…throw in the towel, pack our ish (stuff) and blaze our own trail towards and extraordinary life.

It’s about time we use our voice and challenge all those older adults to stop criticizing our ability to “grow up,” and realize that what some of us are really trying to do here is unleash our inner genius and…defy gravity, we were born to fly.

It’s really quite simple. When you force a GenYus to become a walking talking template or cog in a machine, we know that we will soon become obsolete. We’re not just talking from a, “we’re sorry your job has been outsourced,” kind of obsolete; but from a more devastating and dark place… the place where YOU become obsolete in the sense of losing yourself. We lose touch with the person we were born to be. The person we were called to be. The person harnessing a super power so magnificent, that it allows us to break free, slay dragons, and dream in color.

If you’re constantly thinking thoughts like these:

“What am I doing here?”

“This job is so lame.”

“Ughhhh I have no idea what I want to do”

“I’m really good at this work, but I feel like something is missing.”

You may just need to get back in touch with YOU. If you’re ready to rediscover your super power, break free, slay dragons and dream in color, then reserve your seat in our FREE debut course entitled, “How to Break Free: Harnessing Your Super Power. We promise…you and your classmates will be glad you did.

We’ve even made it super easy; all you have to do is click the link below.

I WANT TO HARNESS MY SUPER POWER!

The Games We Play: Who Sold You On That Plan?

Who Sold You?

What’s this about? (140 characters or less)

It’s time to throw out the plan for your life that you were sold. Are you ready to get paid to be you?

***

At some point during our adult life, for many of us it’s around age 25: the Quarter Life Crisis slips left, bobs right, and then hits us with a flurry of body shots bringing us to our knees gasping for air and clarity. As we lie there on the mat, dizzy, and confused. We begin asking ourselves questions like, “What am I doing here?” “How did I get here?” “Who sold me on this plan?”

You did what you were supposed to do. Graduated high school, most likely went on to college, and then got a good paying job. Awesome. Go You! Yet for some reason, you’re unfulfilled. The work you’re doing does not make you come alive and you would much rather be doing anything but the agonizingly rote assignments of a corporate prisoner. If you’re not in corporate America, its irrelevant because your sentiments are either the same or very close. Unlike others that you encounter during your day-to-day operations, you would rather work to live — and not live to work. Work-life-balance isn’t a desire, you long for total-life-success. *TWEET THIS * Dare we say…you want to get paid to be YOU, by doing what you love to do, on your terms? *TWEET THIS*

Yo GenYus…get your head in the game. It’s time to buy a new plan for your life. Guess what? You can get paid to be YOU! There’s just a few thing you’ll need to do before blazing your own trail. We’d be lying if we said it would be easy, but for those who want to take control of and design their own extraordinary life…journey with us.

Beatriz is a stunning example of what happens when you stop playing hide and seek and find your voice. She is a life coach that is passionate about her purpose and is playing an active role in helping Gen Y professionals and entrepreneurs break through barriers, get clarity, and start living now. She is a GenYus.

We could go on and on about her remarkable work, but the story of how she found her own voice is best told in her words.

B  & T shout: *TWEET THIS !* “OLLY OLLY OXEN FREE!”

*Cue music, Madonna “Holiday”

Enter Beatriz…

I had a voice, and I silenced it.

I don’t quite remember when or how it happened. Biting my tongue here; holding in my opinion there. By the time I realized what was happening, I had lost most of my ability to deeply, emotionally express myself. The words would get caught in my throat. I’d open my mouth, but nothing would come out.

Answer this question: When you were a child and someone asked you “what do you want to be when you grow up?” What was your response?

Okay…now that you are grown upare you what you thought you would be?

Look up in the sky it’s a bird! It’s a plane! No…it’s Yes Man or Yes Woman. You might recognize this lifesaving hero. You often see him or her looking back at you in the mirror every morning while brushing your teeth.

If there’s one thing you can count on from your friends at GenYus, it’s that, we’ll always give it to you straight up – no chaser. Here’s the deal…the YES man or woman really is a hero to a lot of people. They’re the most responsible and understanding person known by those in their personal, work, and family circles. This is why they’re repeatedly asked to save the day. These super heroes do it all: volunteer, drive Ms. Daisy to bingo, lend folks money that they don’t have, plan parties, deliver bad news, go to work early, stay late, herd cats, and clean up messes that they didn’t create. They do it all with a smile on their face, a pep in their step, and ask for nothing in return.

The Games We Play – Health: How to Embrace Your Inner Caveman

cavemen-food-nutrition

What’s this all about? (140 characters or less)

It’s time to break free from the games we play with our health. Natasha decided to take a bold stance by embracing the caveman within. Her story is encouragement to all, to end the wicked games that we play with our health.

***

Despite the fact that it’s swimsuit season, once again, you find yourself unexpectedly in line at the drive through shouting into the box, “I’LL HAVE A LARGE FRY…AND A CHOCOLATE SHAKE!” It’s been “one of those days.”  Or if you’re not the type to be caught dead at the drive through, you might be found wandering into a bakery purchasing a gourmet cupcake the size of your head.

You immediately feel guilty about your sinfully delicious binge and justify your actions by saying things like, “I ate well all day until now…and I worked out today too, so I deserve this!”  Congratulations! You’re officially playing games – with your health.

Just remember…it’s all fun and games until somebody gets hurt and…

“Just because you’re not sick doesn’t mean you’re healthy.”  ~Author Unknown

If you want a lesson in taking a stand with your health there is no better example than Natasha. Her story is amazing and one that we can all relate to.  It is truly inspiring how she was able to break free and end the game she played with her health.

The Games We Play With Our Health: Junk Food Junkie

Sneaky..sneaky....

What’s this all about (140 characters or less)

Put the fork down. Stop freezing donuts for later and listen up. Decisions based off emotions damage our well-being. Stop playing games with your health. Time to break free.

*Cue Sarah McLachlan “Angel”*

Voiceover: Every hour somewhere in the world, a person violently abuses their body. Thousands of people made resolutions to end the cycle of unhealthy living but only 3,000 people were rescued last year. For thousands of others, help came too late.

*Cue B (Brandi) and T (Theresa) sitting on a sofa holding an unhealthy person*

B: Will you be an angel for one of these poor defenseless humans? Will you help end the cycle of food abuse and unhealthy living?

T: For a few hours a day you can drastically alter your life and the life of others by playing an active role in your health… Please, you owe it to yourself.

***

We’ve all been there. There are periods in our lives when our health is not a priority. Entering into the professional world is normally the time when our healthy eating and fitness habits take a back seat. Our focus becomes the success of our career and building our own personal brands while neglecting other areas of our lives.

Let’s Get Dirty

Get Dirty

What’s this all about? (140 Characters or Less)

The time has come to get real with ourselves and end the games that we play with our lives. We have to take a look at the man in the mirror (Bill Murray), dig up the root, and change our ways.

***

In the popular 1993 comedy starring Bill Murray, Groundhog Day, Murray’s character somehow finds himself repeating the same day over and over again. Recognizing that the day continues to repeat itself, Murray takes full advantage of the situation. He decides to feed his carnal desires by stealing money, having some hot love affairs, and manipulating the town’s people to fulfill his own desires. Growing tired of his escapades, he begins to behave recklessly as he realizes this day stands to repeat itself. When Murray describes the situation to another character in the film, she suggests that he take the opportunity to better himself. He takes her advice to enrich himself and also the lives of others. Finally, the day ends.

Does your life look or feel like Groundhog Day? Do you feel like you are repeating the same day over and over and over again?

Like Murray, we try and trick ourselves into thinking that by feeding our carnal desires the nightmare will come to an end. “If I just get this new car, house, hot pair of shoes, new gadget, lose weight, get that promotion, or date that hot guy/gal then my life will have meaning.” Growing tired of our escapades, we begin to behave recklessly which is reflected in the head garbage that becomes visible garbage in our lives.

The twisted games that we play with our lives have to stop. Our lives are far too valuable to be wasted on the acquisition of goods and fleeting moments. These “things” simply serve as a temporary bandage and don’t rectify the root issue. Once the adhesion wears away and the bandage falls off, what’s left is a nasty open smelly wound.

Let’s get dirty fam, it’s time to dig up the root.

We aim to do just that with our first series lovingly titled “The Games We Play.”
