After one year into this amazing journey with all of you, we have decided it’s time for some massive construction.

What does that mean?

It means that we’ll be off-site while Bob and his team lay a new foundation for GenYus!

Don’t worry, Bob promises the project won’t take too long and we’ll be back up and running in no time.  But in the interim, the weekly blog posts will come to a stop until further notice. We asked Bob if it was a good idea to stop all communication and he assured us that the new and improved GenYus will be well worth the wait.

A whole new look, feel, and purpose to better serve our subscribers and fans.

So until then…if there is something that you really want help with, leave a comment or send us an e-mail and let us know what’s on your mind and how we can help. We’d be more than happy to share your feedback with Bob as he builds what we know will be EPIC.

Last week we shared with you our story behind the story, and this week we’re excited to announce that our signature summer series that we affectionately referred to as “That’s What’s Up Thursdays,” will be back in 2013! But this time…you won’t have to wait until the summer, it won’t be over the phone, and perhaps (based on your feedback) it won’t even be on a Thursday night.

As we approach the one-year anniversary of GenYus, we realized that we had yet to take the opportunity to tell OUR story. Sure you can take a glance at our bios, follow us on Twitter, or like us on Facebook in attempt to gain some insight, but does that really tell the story?

“Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.” We wanted to come from behind the curtain to answer some of the many questions that we are often asked. Our hope is that by sharing our story, we can shed some light on why breaking free is so important to both of us.

Who are you?

We are millennials. By day, we work for a Fortune 500 company in the marketing and sales organization. We’ve both been at the same company for nearly 10 years, which is rare for most millennials. We are leaders in our industry; we are the “go to” people for insights surrounding work-life balance, managing millennials, and strategic listening. In our spare time, we volunteer with several organizations that we are passionate about, connect with amazing people and focus on personal development.

Why GenYus, why now?

GenYus started as a result of both of us hitting a wall, aka the quarter-life crisis. We both came to the realization that there had to be more to life than working a 9-5. We soon learned that we weren’t the only ones experiencing this same awareness. Over the course of many months, we shared stories with other millennials that were experiencing the same symptoms as us. We recognized that something had to be done and we were just the folks to do it, so Genyus was born.

After launching the blog, we soon learned millennials weren’t the only generation demanding more from work and life. Our message resonated with all people who were looking to break free. After taking a long hard look, we identified that the system was broken. The rules of the game changed and nobody bothered to inform us. So, we set out to change the game and create a new system.

Who do you serve?

We seek to serve those that are fed up with the status quo. Those who recognize that there has to be more to life than working a job/career that doesn’t excite you. Our goal is to reach those that are looking to make a change in their life but don’t know where to start.

We also serve those who are looking to understand how to lead and manage millennials in the workplace. There are generational differences that we must acknowledge if we hope to thrive in the future.

We have a question for you, what do you want from us?

As we continue to move forward and grow GenYus, we want to make sure that we keep you first. We are here to serve you and to help you become the person that you’ve always dreamed of becoming.

We want to produce content that addresses topics that interest and serve you. What would you like to hear more about? What hot topics would you like us to discuss?

ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET…

You’ve got your New Year’s Resolution and have declared that this is going to be the best year of your life! This will be the year that you go after and achieve not only your resolution, but all of the other goals you set for yourself between now and the end of the year.

We want YOU to be wildly successful in 2013. It’s time to ignite your life!

But before we let you out of the starting blocks, we have one very important question to ask you. This question is so important, that if you answer it honestly and then become the answer you will crush it in 2013 and beyond.

So here it is…the one question you need to answer:

WHO DO I HAVE TO BECOME IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE MY GOALS?

Let that sink in for a moment.

Who do you have to become in order for you to achieve your goals?

If your goal is to run a marathon, then ask yourself, what kind of person do I have to become in order to complete a marathon?

Think about it. Someone who runs marathons has the self-discipline to get out there (rain or shine) and complete each of the runs on their training program – regardless if they feel like it or not. They eat the right foods and take in enough water in order to run those long distances. They get the proper amount of rest, and wear the appropriate clothing and shoes to support their training. See where we’re going with this?

Whatever your resolution or goal is for 2013 make sure you really think through who you must become in order to make your dreams a reality. Oh and if you need a spark along the way to help you ignite your inner genius, hit us up! We’re here to light a fire and get you sprinting down your path to happiness and fulfillment.

As we prepare to put a bow on 2012 and get ready to unwrap 2013, we wanted to take a moment to tell all of you Whiz Kids THANK YOU and that we LOVE YOU for being a part of this awesome community!

We appreciate those of you who have: read and commented on our posts each week, jammed with us on a “That’s What’s Up Thursday’s” conference call, took our signature Superpowers course, or even learned how to, “Lead Across Generations for Maximum Impact.” We’ve had a blast learning and growing with each of you and can’t wait to reveal to you what’s next for GenYus after the New Year.

Special thanks to our 18 Ignite program graduates! You each dug in, and did the work necessary to get a head start on your 2013 goals! Awwww yeah!!!

Each of you are now equipped with everything you need to design and live your amazing life – as of course defined by YOU. Thank you for your commitment, your honesty, your courage and your gifts. The world has been waiting for you to show up and put these gifts to use and we’re excited to watch everything unfold before your eyes in 2013 and beyond.

As you dance across the world, invest in real estate, form that non-profit, courageously change careers, demolish your debt for good, grow your gardens, launch that site to keep peeps out of the dog house, write that book, visit each continent, form your photography biz, and remember to kiss your spouse goodnight (every night) we want you all to know that because of each of you letting your light shine, as Marianne Williamson so eloquently said, you “…unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Together, let’s liberate the masses by inspiring our fellow Whiz Kids to break free, Ignite their inner genius, and at last, create and live amazing life’s in 2013 and beyond.

When They Reminisce Over You

Three ways to make sure that you leave your mark.

There are few defining moments in our lives. Moments were we have the option to take the road less traveled or the route that has been clearly defined. This clean path is filled with directional signs and bright lights to lead your way. There is no shame in taking the path that has been laid before you if, while taking it, you remain true to yourself. However, some choose to take a different route. There are those who venture into uncharted territory to create a path so that we can all be exposed to a new way of life – an abundant and rich mindset.

We had the privilege of hosting an event for one such hero, Dr. Rick Bommelje. A man who despite the odds, continued to spread a message that the world wasn’t ready for but desperately needed.  Imagine running a marathon where you are the only person there to cheer yourself on. There are no friends and family supporting you as you take each step. There are no rest stops with Kashi snacks and no Jock Jams to lift your spirits as you continue running. There are so many lessons that we could share in regards to this great man, but we don’t have enough space to do it. We hope to honor him by sharing what he has taught us about the importance of legacy and listening.

The desire to make a lasting impact (achieve significance) is one that we all share. The hope is that as the sand in the hourglass begins to fall at a slower pace, we can gaze at our life and the work that we have done. Greeting these moments with pride and gratitude makes the ride worthwhile. The question that we have for you dear Whiz Kid, is this:

Whose Life Are You Living?

It’s your dream…or is it?

You’ve set out to accomplish something big. You were smart: you got crystal clear on your goal and announced to the world that you were going to make it happen. You took the age old quote, “a goal without a deadline is just a wish,” to heart and you declared it. You set a date. You invested your time, energy and money into the journey and your biggest cheerleaders have celebrated your small wins all along the way.

Now the deadline is in sight.

You’re just shy of making your dream a reality and the battle between achieving your goal by your deadline and time begins.

Then it happens. An obstacle presents itself and those dang ANTS (automatic negative thoughts) come marching in prematurely chanting game over.

It’s decision time.

What do you do?

Do you throw in the towel? Saying things like, “you know…I shot for the moon and grabbed a couple stars on the way down…I’m good.”

Or do you have your friends try to convince you that you did your best by watering down your goal; or worse replacing it with someone else’s so you achieve it within the deadline?

Time waits for no one.

So whose life are you living? Whose dream is this?
